Anthony Mayze is a Melbourne based photographer with a focus on both editorial portraiture and the exploration of creative freedom

My photography journey started during high school, where I found that I was able to drive my creative expression and perceptions of the world through the camera lens. From here, I took the plunge and moved to the big smoke. Here, I furthered my skills by undertaking an Advanced Diploma of Photography at the Melbourne-based Photography Studies College.

In early 2017, my work (Pineapple) and (Don’t show them who you are) won Silver at the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA). Later on that year, my image (shattered) was selected to be displayed in the De|Pict Exhibition, with support of OzLink Entertainment.

I define my work as diverse. With my images/series, I attempt to captivate strong editorial and illustrative expression. Through this, my work drives a sole focus on both portraiture and structure within their surroundings; both natural and man-made.

I best describe myself as a socialite, I’ve always loved working and collaborating with people from all walks of life. Being based in Melbourne, I have been able to work with some great clients and incorporate them into my creative expressions through images.

As a creator, I’m always on the hunt for new ideas. So when I’m not working on a new endeavour, you can catch me exploring new locations or with a wine in hand surrounding myself with what the Melbourne city has to offer.
